baby countdown, less than 25 days to go.

November 26th, 2007 / No Comments » / by S. Elie

I can’t believe how fast time flew. I can’t believe how big I grew. This baby has put a toll on me physically and mentally. But now we are in the home stretch. I am excited and anxious about the pending arrival of our son.

This is my last week of work as I will be starting maternity leave on Monday and I’ve already started the list of things I am dying to get accomplished before the new baby arrives.

I will be updating the blog more often so please keep in touch. Coming this December you will find reviews on the Kiddie Kangaroo, Truly Mom and calendars, the Chick & Cozy blanket/bag, Cleanoz nose cleaner, and much more. In addition, I will be blogging on behalf of my 2-year- daughter and how she is getting along with her baby brother.

I am crossing my fingers and toes, hopping she’ll adjust quickly to the new addition in our family.

Only 25 days left.

destruction of the white shirt

More than just a bib, it’s a coverall!
I sent my daughter to school in a crisp, clean white shirt. Some may ask why would you put a 2 year old in a white shirt. Well normally I wouldn’t but mommy was behind on the laundry and white was the only option. So reluctantly I sent her off to school.

destruction_white-shirt.jpgWhen I picked her up from school I was quickly reminded why white is such a bad idea.
At least she had fun though, right? As I tossed this one into the white shirt graveyard, I realized their must be a better way.

chic-tot-coveralls.jpgAnd there is. The Chic Tots Chic&Clean coveralls, the best baby bib alternative out there! It’s a bib, a smock, and a coverall all in one. It takes the stress out of playtime and mealtime self-feeding. The coveralls are mildew, stain and water proof. The Chic&Clean coveralls also have a unique split-leg to accommodate all high chairs.

Stop tossing your shirts in the white shirt graveyard and get yours today. Shop lalababyboutique.com and find the perfect style for you and your baby.

baby number two is on his way

November 19th, 2007 / No Comments » / by S. Elie

As I lie in bed these days I can’t help but wonder if those middle of the night nudges and kicks are my baby’s attempts at trying to find the exit. With only four weeks left until his eviction date I can’t help but wonder if he’s planning on making an early arrival. Will his entrance into his new world be like his older sister’s?

5 nursing products we love

November 9th, 2007 / No Comments » / by S. Elie

mybrestfriend-pillow.jpgMy Brest Friend
This isn’t your ordinary nursing pillow. I used this one for the first few months with my daughter. I love the slight curve of the pillow and the how it securely fastens around the waste. This pillow made it a lot easier to nurse my daughter and puts your baby in the most ideal position to nurse.

On a side note my husband even used the pillow. He liked to lay my daughter on the pillow and let her sleep on his lap so he could use both his hands to wok on the computer. To learn more about this pillow go to www.mybrestfriend.com.

boppy-pillow.jpgBoppy Pillow
We pulled this pillow out last week to get ready for the baby. My 2-year old has already laid claim on it, so we may have a little problem when the baby comes. We actually didn’t use this pillow at first; I didn’t use it when nursing. To find locations that sell the Boppy Pillow go to www.boppy.com.

We got the most of this pillow when my daughter was a little older. We would set her in the pillow to feed her while we were getting ready for work. I would definitely recommend this pillow.

madela-breast-pump.jpgMadela Breast Pump
This is a pricey breast pump but if you’re planning on nursing and pumping for more than a couple of months it’s worth the buy. You can often find used pumps for sale; just make sure you replace the little parts with brand new ones. More information is available about the Madela breast pump at www.madela.com.

top 5 useful nursing websites

November 8th, 2007 / No Comments » / by S. Elie

As my due date grows closer I can’t help but think about how things will be with another newborn in the house. How will my daughter adjust? How different will my son be from my daughter? Will I be able to nurse this time? Is it worth even trying again?

With my first born, I had an extremely difficult time nursing. I wasn’t able to produce a sufficient amount of milk to provide for her. Believe me I tried. I drank the tea, I pumped and pumped, even sought help from a lactation consultant. I decided to give it up when that I found my self spending so much time trying to generate half a bottle of milk and missing out on the fun and cuddly time with my baby.

This time around I am torn between giving it another chance or just using formula. After all I have a toddler running around the house, will I have the time to breastfeed and pump.

I thought others may have the same questions and concerns about breastfeeding as I do so I found a list of sites that will help every nursing mother. We all know the benefits of nursing so we don’t have to go there. But these sites also provide support for mom’s who have questions and need advice about breastfeeding and those who need to vent about the difficulties of nursing.

ah triumph!

November 5th, 2007 / No Comments » / by S. Elie

This weekend my 2-year old was brushing her teeth in the bathroom and discovered she can now reach the toothpaste in the medicine cabinet. She screamed in triumph, “I did it. I got the toothpaste!” Gripping on to as if it was a trophy and she just climbed to the top of Mount Everest.

top 5 things i can’t wait to do after the baby is born

November 1st, 2007 / No Comments » / by S. Elie

I have been very good through out my pregnancy, eating right, avoiding the “danger” foods and everything else. So much that it has me going crazy craving for my favorite things.

  1. I am craving a good tight hug from my daughter the kind that knocks you to your knees and makes you tumble over. I can’t wait to be able to hold and carry her again whenever she needs me.
  2. I can’t wait to have my Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks. I have been good throughout the pregnancy and didn’t have one. Cant’ say I didn’t spend a couple of hours trying to convince myself otherwise.
  3. I am craving the bedtime cuddles with hubby. Right now I’m too hot or too achy to even get close.
  4. Ode to the Apple Martini. Yes, alcohol is on my top five, Mom. I can’t wait to take a sip of my favorite drink the Apple Martini. The ones at PF Chang’s are my favorite
  5. Fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans and my high heeled boots.

I’m close to the finish line, which is always the hardest for me. Just like in school when you only have a couple of more questions on a test and you want to just zoom through them just so you can be done with it, right or wrong.
