He is finally here!
December 31st, 2007 / 1 Comment » / by S. Elie
Our son finally arrived weighing in at a healthy 7lbs 1oz and just in time for the New Year. The delivery went smoothly and both baby and I were able to go home the following day. He and his 2 year old sister hit it off well. She is already very protective of him just like she was while I was carrying him. She would not let grandma rub my stomach and now she won’t let her hold him. She’s always telling grandma, “Give baby to mommy.” I only hope they will be good friends and will always look out for each other. Here is a picture of the two of them both a couple of days old. Do you think they look alike?

Product Review: Mom planners by Go Mom!, Bizzi2Go, momAgenda,
truly mom
It´s that time of year again; time to go shopping for next year’s calendar. This year why don´t you try a calendar or planner designed specifically for moms. I was given an opportunity to review four 2008 mom calendars the Bizzi2Go Planner, Go Mom! Organizer, momAgenda desktop calendar and the truly mom organizer. All of which have their own unique features aside from the basic calendar. I am sure you will find one that fits your needs.
Go Mom! Running Mate Undated by Day Runner
The Go Mom! Organizer was created by a busy mom, Molly Gold of three after she became a stay-at-home mom. She searched for the perfect calendar for years without success so decided to create her own. She launched the Go Mom! in 2000 and signed a partnership with Mead Westvaco Consumer of Office products in 2004. You can find the Go Mom! organizer at your local Target, Staples and/or Office Max. There are 3 different calendar options in the line:
Go Mom! Classic Undated Organizer (size 5 ½” x 8 ½”)
Go Mom! Running Mate Undated Organizer (size 3 ¾” x 6 ¾”)
Go Mom! Dated Appointment Book (can only be found in select Staples stores)
Calendar
The calendar comes with both an undated monthly and weekly view so you can start using the calendar any time of the year. Each week provides a place to plan meals as well as a section just for mom.
There are 2 other options available in the line, a larger undated organizer and a dated appointment book.
i will take the christmas tree; hold the pets please!
December 22nd, 2007 / 2 Comments » / by S. Elie
My husband and I have been together for over 10 years and purchased only one Christmas tree throughout that time until now. Since we are expecting our son any day now we decided to have Christmas at our house. So this morning we took our daughter to get her first tree. We even let her pick it out. She was so excited about her tree and being able to decorate it.
My husband hammered on the stand and we propped the tree up to take a look, even our neighbors were partaking in the joyous occasion. Then I screamed “What is that?”
And that is when we discovered that our tree came with FREE PETS. About eight baby mice/rats were on the floor of our patio! They had fallen out of the tree! My husband darted down the stairs, I slammed my front door. My neighbor slammed hers. Everyone was screaming and in shock. Luckily they mice/rats were only a couple of days old, if that.
Needless to say the tree was returned and we got our money back. There will be no fresh Christmas tree at our house this year. Yes, we will be decorating one of our artificial plants and placing the presents under around it. Can you blame us?
The day after Christmas we will be buying our artificial tree for next year, I know those don’t come with FREE pets!
i think he wants to be a christmas baby!

So after spending 4 hours in L&D last night, I am back at home with contractions waiting for my baby boy to make his grand appearance. I tried everything to get things going, short of castor oil and he still won’t budge. I’m beginning to think he has his own agenda that doesn’t involve my needs or desires. Yesterday I walked the mall, I went to the movies, I did the deed and walked some more. It didn’t faze him. So today I will the (apparently not strong enough contractions) go to my daughters Christmas party, stop by my work Christmas party, finish my shopping and then just come home and relax.
oh baby where are you?

Only 5 days left until my due date and it doesn’t seem my son is ready to come out. I’ve even looked up ways to induce labor, the walking, the sex, the acupressure and the castor oil. I’ve done the walking, the acupressure, and ah some of the other things. I think he’s already developed some of my husband’s stubborn traits.
I have even tried a labor cream sample that I received while at the ABC Kids Expo, claiming to help stimulate labor. Its called Labor Boost by Baby Belly Botanicals, has anyone tried it? I have my doubts but I still rubbed some on my belly just in case.
The one thing I have not tried is the Castor oil; I can’t even imagine what that would taste like. Plus after reading all the negative things about this option I have decided that waiting for him to come out on his own is a better option. Do you know of anyone that has tried this technique? Has it worked? How long does it take?
Any other labor inducing suggestions out there?
how to lose the baby weight
December 12th, 2007 / No Comments » / by S. Elie
With the impending arrival of my son, it got me to thinking, how am I ever going to get my figure back and how long will it take. I already know what the rule is.
It took 9 months to put the wait on, so plan at least that long to get the weight back off.
I also know that with my first child I never really lost “all” the weight a couple of pounds still lingered and wandered into the next pregnancy. But this time it’s different. We don’t plan on having any more children so now I can “invest” in getting my figure back, and I’m excited about it.
But where do I start? It’s time to some investigating and I wanted to share with everyone what I found.
When I go to the mall in the morning I see a group of women with their babies in strollers exercising together. They were part of the work out program Stroller Strides.
Stroller Strides was started by a mom just like us who no longer had time to go to the gym and decided to workout outdoors with her son in tow in his stroller. She created a series of exercises that got her back into shape and wanted to share her secrets with other busy moms. Stroller Strides was born. You can sign up for a free class to see if Stroller Strides is right for you. To check for classes in your area go to http://www.strollerstrides.com/.
37 weeks: it’s time to come out

As my due date steadily approaches I can’t help but wonder if this baby is planning on staying inside forever. I’ve walked, I’ve relaxed, I’ve tried almost everything but he doesn’t want to move. Has he already developed my stubborn trait? Why is he so resistant to the unavoidable?
To my unborn son:
Mommy, Daddy and your big sister are all ready for you to make your grand appearance. I can’t wait to hold you close, feed you and breathe in your fresh scent. Won’t you come out today?
Daddy can’t wait to kick the soccer ball around, show his tools and tricks he can only show a little a boy. I won’t let him teach your sister how fun it is to burp out loud or “ARR” like a pirate. (Unfortunately, I lost the pirate battle).
