weekend entrepreneur, inspirational and informative

August 31st, 2008 / 6 Comments » / by S. Elie

Working a double life as a full-time employee and as an entrepreneur is an exhausting life.

It’s exhausting a lot of the time. Now imagine that and then adding motherhood to the mix. You go through a flood of emotions. You feel guilty because you’re not spending enough time with the kids. Exhaustion because you are working in the wee hours of the night after the kids go to bed. Chaos because in order to balance you have to sacrifice something and for me that is the housework. Sometimes the dishes get left in the sink or the floor doesn’t get swept as often as it should.

But I think the hardest part of trying to “do it all” is the battle to stay motivated. There is a little bird (or something) asking will all this work pay off? Just give up already and just do your best at work. JUST THROW IN THE TOWEL ALREADY.

That is when I read some of the posts on Weekend Entrepreneur, a great motivational blog that talks about how others have made the transition into financial independence.

Not only that they also talk about business strategies and business tips. If you want to learn more heck out the Weekend Entrepreneur.

it’s my birthday and I’ll party if I want to

August 29th, 2008 / 14 Comments » / by S. Elie

Today is my birthday. Yeah I made it through another year. Boo another year has passed. It’s funny the older you get, the less excited you are about getting older. I used to love celebrating my birthday I would even stretch the day into an entire weekend or week. Now I’m low profile girl.

It’s my birthday, yeah.

I am secretly wishing for a new digital camera, iPhone or new purse.

my last job

August 28th, 2008 / 6 Comments » / by S. Elie

Last night my husband and I talked, we talk every night but last night we TALKED about what our plans for the future. We have been bouncing around ideas like moving back to Las Vegas (his family is there), moving to San Diego (we both love) or staying here in LA.
He is applying to the PD and is trying to figure out which branch, LA, Burbank, where?

That is when I said it. No matter where we go or what we do, THIS will be my last job working for someone else. I have been working very hard on establishing my business and if we are going to move it has to be a place where I don’t have to take on another full-time job.

August 25th, 2008 / 1 Comment » / by S. Elie

Okay its just 201 posts, 202 if you count this post. I’m excited to announce that I made it to 200 posts. Yeah. Now if I could only get 200 readers. Boo. The biggest mistake in changing your blog domain is that your traffic doesn’t just automatically follow. So now i have to rebuild everything. That’s okay. I love my new blog name it suits me and my busy life!

my momagenda just arrived

August 25th, 2008 / 2 Comments » / by S. Elie

My new mom agenda calendar just arrived today to help get me organized. I’ve gone through so many calendars its not even funny. I can never find one that fits all my needs. The momagenda is a close as I can get to my idea of a perfect calendar so I had to get a new one. My only wish is that it came in a ring binder so I can add more pages for notes. I love jotting things down and most calenders don’t allow room for that.

the sad truth left in hot cars

August 25th, 2008 / 1 Comment » / by S. Elie

So I read a depressing article this morning on momlogic that chronicles the senseless deaths of 29 children who have died in from being in trapped in hot cars in the US alone. According to Janette Fennel, the founder and president of Kids and Cars, a national nonprofit group that advocates for child safety, roughly 36 infants and children die in these types of accidents annually.

While all of the listed incidents were sad, none were as shocking as an incident in Nevada where a 4 year-old, who had special needs, died when his family forgot him in a car after a family outing. He was left in the car for 17 hours. SEVENTEEN HOURS. The little boy had 7 siblings whom the family managed to remember. That is 9 people including the parents who forgot about a 4 year old for 17 hours. I just don’t get how that is possible. When it was time for dinner, nobody noticed he was missing. What about bedtime? Nobody noticed he wasn’t in bed. Call me suspicious, but how do 9 people completely forget about a 4 year old, a special needs 4 year old, which I imagine needed help getting out of the car, who probably needed some assistance during dinner and bedtime and nobody noticed he was gone! WOW!
