5 phrases I wish my daughter didn’t remember
Being a parent is a huge responsibility and a real “learning” experience. Everyone is bound to make mistakes along the way. My husband and have said things to and around my daughter that I never thought would bite us in the butt later.
1. “See I told you,” Bizzie Girl’s favorite new phrase. She loves to tell me “See I told you” when I tell her the TV is broken and she manages to turn it on. Pretty every time she is right, she tells us, “See I told you.” This one came from me. It started when I would ask her if she needs to go to the potty, she would say no. So I would make her sit on the potty and when she went I would say, “See I told you.” Little did I know I would be getting it right back.
2. “Princess Diva,” this one is 100% my husband’s fault. One day Bizzie Girl had a major attitude and while we were on the phone with her Grandmother, my husband said she was “Princess Diva.” And to this day, she will refer to herself as Princess Diva.
3. “Buggy Eyes,” this one is all mine. When my son was born he had the biggest bug eyes. So we would call him buggy eyes. Bizzie Girl picked up on this so now she’ll call him Buggy Eyes as well. Luckily he grew out of this stage so it’s slowly fading out.
4. “You went Pee, Mommy, Good Job.” This one is really only embarrassing when you have to go to the bathroom in public. While potty training we of course encouraged our child with praise when she used the bathroom. Little did we know that we would get the same encouragement right back.
5. “Nothing,” I wish I could erase this word out of my daughter’s vocabulary. Every time I ask, “What are you doing?” It is immediately followed by, “nothing.” We all know what “nothing” means to a toddler and it isn’t NOTHING!

Eh hem, regarding No. 5 I can’t help but remember when Bizzie Mom’s favorite response was “whatever!”
As for my own cherubs, my DH and I still smile over their “um, let me think…” response to an implied accusation such as “Did you do that?!”
