revelations during a marathon of tori & dean
July 31st, 2008 / 4 Comments » / by S. Elie
Why was I up until after midnight watching tivo’d episodes of Tori & Dean? Best of all my husband (
he’ll kill me for saying it) was sitting right next to me. The same man who hates girly flicks and anything mushy.
Maybe we are drawn to the show because we’re in the same situation, okay wait, no my dad wasn’t a entertainment mogul, no I didn’t grow up in Hollywood, no I don’t have paparazzi following me, nor do I have oodles of money or even know what it is like to have oodles of money.
Okay so we don’t have much in common after all, but what WE do have in common is that we both have two adorable little kids. I won’t say who has the cutest (me, me!) because that wouldn’t be polite. We both have a somewhat difficult relationship with our mothers; hers does seem way more complicated. But who really does have the PERFECT relationship with their mother. We are both working moms. We both are trying to survive in Los Angeles, are struggles differ but overall we both seek success.
the baby borrower’s rundown, episode three

Preface: I didn’t skip episode two it ran last week and in case you missed you it ran again this week.
This week’s episode the teens are challenged to care for those crazy, funny, unpredictable toddlers. I know exactly what these teens are going through because I have my very own three year old diva.
So here’s a quick rundown on how the teens did this week with the toddlers.
Kelsey & Sean
To everyone’s surprise Sean and Kelsey’s new toddler is actually the older brother of the baby they watched last week. I guess the parent’s weren’t so freaked that Kelsey was scared of watching the baby. Luckily Kelsey did much better this week with the toddler, even though I think the parents booby trapped her with a toddler that is sort of “potty training”. I felt her pain having just gone through the potty training stage with my daughter. He didn’t seem really ready for the potty just yet, but Kelsey persevered and actually got him to use the little potty. Go Kelsey and congratulations for sticking with it.

the baby borrowers rundown, episode one

Okay first I know I’m a little behind, I’m just catching up on my TiVO! I have been waiting for this show to come on all season just to see, I’ll admit it, just to see these teenagers fail. Not to fail in a bad way though, but to help them see that parenting isn’t that easy and it takes a lot of commitment and sacrifice.
That being said on to the show…
The show starts off by introducing the couples and getting them acclimated to their new residences and lifestyle. There are five couples couple, none of which have lived together prior to the show. The couples are Jordan and Sasha, Kelly and Austin, Daton & Morgan, Alicea and Cory, and Kelsey and Sean.
The girls where told that they had to where a simulated pregnancy belly which caused Kelly to have an emotional breakdown on the show. Even though I thought she should have been forced to wear the body suit or kicked off for refusing, her boyfriend Austin was a real trooper and attended the baby class alone and even wore the body suit himself. Go Austin!

Balance, what’s that?
Everyday I find it hard to balance, well everything… I have my almost 3 year old daughter, my 5 month old son, my online store, web design business, my husband, and my job search (the job I have to do until one of my others can replace it), and this blog. It is impossible to get everything done, but strangely getting something done is right next to impossible.
Tori Spelling another working mother and wife writes on ivillage.com that we need to find time to reconnect with ourselves in order to find balance.
As a working mother, someone will want some of your time every second of every day. But if you don’t get a little time to yourself, what good will you be to anyone? I think it’s different for everyone: some people do yoga, some take a bath, some work out in the gym, some get a manicure… but whatever you do, make sure you have time for it, so you don’t feel guilty, or worse: more stressed out than before!
She’s right! This week, well next week I will make a point to find some “me” time. How, when, and where? I have no idea. If you have any suggestions on how to balance life and reconnect, please let me know.

I know. I know. This is old news, but for those that have never had the chance to experience I Know my Kids a Star, here’s a recap. Thank you, TiVo.
This is the final episode and Cheyenne, Mckenzie and Mary Jo are the last one’s standing. Who will the winner? My vote is for Mary Jo but let’s be honest this show isn’t voting for the most talented kid. This show is voting for the parent who can handle Hollywood the most. Based on that I’m sure Mary Jo will be going home.
They just sent Mary Jo and Pam home, and what does mom say on the road back home, “You’re acting coach is fired, you vocal coach is fired and maybe your dancing instructor.” I wish I could buy Mary Jo the Donald Trump doll so she can tell her mom, “You’re fired!”

what, gigi’s not ready for hollywood?

I am scared to admit it but I am actually addicted to, I Know My Kids a Star. I am sickened and drawn to the show at the same time. I can’t believe these upcoming stage mamas and the antics they are using to get ahead of the game. Can we say trailer trash meets ghetto fabulous? These caddy women will do anything to bring down another team.
Last night’s episode was no different. During a parent radio interview we learned that Pam ex-husband used to wear dresses, Helene lives with her mother and Shannon has no idea what the casting coach is. I wonder how many of these moms would “sacrifice” to make there kid the next star.
Gigi was out of control this episode. I hope she realizes that is her fault they got kicked off the show.
The season finale is next week so tune in and find out who will be the next child star!
