Love the story although I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if it happened to us! We have a good ol', pre-lit fake one that we have been using for several years now. It's pretty, it lights up and doesn't leave a mess of needles everywhere. No watering, no worrying about it drying out and it folds back up easily when we are finished. If I miss the smell of a real tree I can light a candle ;) Good luck!

I am there with you Bizzie...not at all thrilled about the tree thing either. I have never been a fan of them. Now with my 18mo old walking hurricane, I am not sure if it is a good idea. We'll see.

You have a few options. Do you have a room you could block off with a baby gate to put the tree in? I've also heard of people putting their tree inside a playpen to keep out busy little ones. You could always pick one out at a store at the very last minute and just have it up for a day or two. We did that a while back, and got a close out tree for $5 at Home Depot on Christmas Eve. That way, we had a tree, but didn't have the stress of keeping a toddler out of it for weeks!
