I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I was given the opportunity to try the LensBaby Composer . I know you are probably sick of me talking about my rekindled love for photography but I can’t help it, I’ve fallen in love with the craft all over again.
I took the Lensbaby Composer out with me on a trip to Disneyland and a few trips outside in my backyard and I have to say the Composer is more than just a lens. It inspires you to be more creative with your photography and just have fun with your shots!

So How Does It Work
The Lensbaby sits on a ball and socket system making it easy for the photographer to choose the focal point of preference. All you have to do is simply tilt the lens in the desired angle and then focus using the manual focus ring. The lens stays in the bent position until you decide to move it.
The Techie Stuff
The Lensbaby Composer is a manual focus 50mm lens for you SLR to make creative effects. It uses interchangeable magnetic aperture disks at the following apertures: f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16, f/22. The minimum focus is about 18” and maximum focus is infinity. The Lens itself is 2.25″(5.7cm) h x 2.5″(6.35cm) w / Weight: 3.7 oz (104.9g). The Composer is available for the following mounts: Canon EF (EOS), Nikon F, Sony Alpha A / Minolta Maxxum, Pentax K / Samsung GX, Olympus E1 / Panasonic Lumix DMC
The Cool Factor
Alone the Lensbaby Composer is a great creative lens but with all of the added accessories and optics your photographs are only limited by your own imagination. You can now swap out 6 different optics for your Lensbaby lens: Double Glass Optic, Single Glass Optic, Pinhole, Plastic Optic, Soft Focus, and the Fisheye Optic. You can also move in close or go wide with the Wide Angle and Macro Kits.

Great review of the Lensbaby lens system. As a Lensbaby owner I’ve had tons of fun with the lens and can also highly recommend the Lensbaby Composer as a great gift idea for the holidays.
Just remember that the Lensbabies are specific to Camera Manufacturers so if you’re gifting it make sure you know what kind of camera the lucky person owns.
