The next best thing to your nursery changing table

Mompreneur: Karin Telegadis
Company: Ah Goo Baby

Karin Halstead Telegadis worked as a director of programming at Showtime in California before she moved to Princeton to launch Ah Goo Baby in 2006. Prior to Showtime she worked at NBC for five years, developing international business and sales.

Tell us about Ah Goo Baby Plush Pad.

ah-goo-baby-mompreneur2.jpgThe Plush Pad is for today’s on-the-go parent to provide a comfortable changing table while on the road. The Plush Pad, which is machine washable and water resistant, contains an insert of body-contouring foam covered with a preshrunk cotton fabric. The pad is available in six styles and rolls to a compact 10 inches long and three inches in diameter. When opened, the pad expands to two feet by two feet.

What is the most difficult part of being a Mompreneur?

She found the legal legwork in the patent application trying, even with her husband who is an attorney, and developing the prototype was complicated. It took eight months to complete the prototype.

What is next for Ah Goo Baby?

We would like to expand the Plush Pad product line into slumber mats and eventually crib sheets and curtains.

What inspired you to launch your product line?

Telegadis spent a lot of time traveling with her first daughter and found changing pads included with diaper bags hard and cold, with no thought given to comfort for the infant. She often would use towels or blankets for cushion. In fact with her second daughter she ended up ditching the diaper bag all together. She decided there was a need for the Plush pad when she noticed retailers had started selling changing pads separate from diaper bags.

How long has Ah Goo Baby been in business?

Her company was formed in 2005.

LaLaBaby Boutique sells the entire collection of Ah Goo Baby Plush Pads. Get yours today so your baby’s next change will be in plush luxury.
