not a new year resolution, a life resolution- part 1
Every year I make a New Year Resolution and every year, like most people, I completely ignore them. This year I’m not making a new years resolution, this year I’m making life change to help improve my way of life and my family’s way of life.
This year it is time for CHANGE. I’ve been reading along with Jessica’s 15 days of New Year Resolutions which gave me the idea of needing to have a plan for the New Year. But because I have so much going on, I’ve decided to divide up my goals into five areas: Wellness Goals, Money Saving Goals, Family Goals, Business Goals, and Professional Goals.
Wellness Goals
Following my wellness goals will probably be the most challenging. I manage to start everything but committing to them in the long run, well I always stop short.
My goal is to improve my overall health and fitness by making small changes. Working out is number one on the list. I plan to start running again at least 3 to 5 times a day. I need to put my BOB stroller to good use.
Drinking more water is also on the list. I was really good at this when I was pregnant, but I stopped almost as quickly as the baby came out. Jessica from JessicaKnows.com mentions the Special K water on her blog so I’m going to have to give that a try. According to a Water Consumption calculator I need to consume about 75 ounces of water. So I have a lot of catching up to do.
In addition I also plan on drinking more green tea to help boost my metabolism. My goal is to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 118 or less and hopefully increase my energy level and overall health.
Money Saving Goals
Well this one sort of covers all areas of my life resolution and is probably the most important especially in this economy. We are canceling our food service and plan on cooking on a regular basis instead. This will help save us a little money and encourage us to cook healthy meals. I plan on brining my lunch to work from home, instead of buying out. Maybe I’ll buy one of those cute bento boxes. Like the Eco Friendly Laptop Lunch Bento Box-PBA Free or even Lunch box bento box with a bag
. They even have on perfect for the little ones, Sassy Baby Mealtime On the Go Feeding Set
.
We are also going to try and rearrange our work hours to keep the kids out of day care or at least down to 3 days a week. This alone will save THOUSANDS!
I’m still thinking of other ways to save, so I’ll keep you posted on what I find out.
Family Goals
I have been struggling with time management since BP was born and things just got that much more complicated when BB was born. This coming year I plan on setting time aside specifically for “family” time. We will sit down at the table for dinner on a regular basis and I’m hoping to involve BP in the dinner preparations.
Ideally I would like to set aside one day during the weekend to spend as a family. I imagine exploring different places around the Los Angeles area, focusing on inexpensive and free activities for the kids. There is a restaurant that caters to kids, that isn’t Chuck E Cheese that I’m hoping to host a family tweet up sometime at the beginning of the year.

What a great idea.
These are really good! I have some of the same goals myself! Good luck…I will be on your cheering squad!

Great resolutions! So glad to hear that you’re considering a Laptop Lunchbox. Just wanted to let you know that we’re currently offering 20% off all items through Dec 31 at http://www.laptoplunches.com. Hope this helps you reach your goals!
What great life resolutions! I had planned to do a similar post on my blog. I made the resolutions, now I need to make the plan that will make them happen.
I love the look of your blog. Very streamlined.
