Our kids are finally home from a week with the grandparents and Aunts. Thanks for watching the kids this past week. We decided to take them to the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival on Saturday for some outdoor fun. It you haven’t been, it’s great FREE fun for the entire family. They have a bunch of games and rides for the little ones, some music for the adults and food that everyone can enjoy. I highly recommend the fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade. It’s delicious!
It wouldn’t be a Pumpkin Festival without pumpkins and there were plenty of them from tiny to gigantic. You can buy a pumpkin or two and even get them carved by an amazing artist, sculpture. (what would you call a pumpkin sculpture?) We didn’t buy any pumpkins but my father took plenty of pictures in front of them.
There is also a great little marketplace with several different vendors. We found some great homemade candles that smelled good enough to eat. Some peanut brittle that was good enough to eat. There were some amazing bibs that every mom must have. Even some ergonomic back supports. I’m still regretting not buying one at the festival because I haven’t found them again since.
Bizzie Girl loved the reptile show; she was able to pet a snake and a couple of lizards. The girl has no fear when it comes to reptiles and I have no idea where she gets it from. Lucky for me she hasn’t asked for one as a pet, yet.
They had a bit of a bee infestation on Saturday they were swarming the trash cans, lemonade stand and anything sweet, which unfortunately was the majority of the food. Since we didn’t go back on Sunday I don’t know if they were able to resolve the issue.
This year’s festival drew a crowd of 8,000 and was expected to draw a crowd of 10,000 to 12,000 on Sunday. Since it’s only a 2 day affair a couple of things to remember for next year’s visit.
Bring cash, they were supposed to have an ATM machine truck, but the guy never showed up. Wear comfortable shoes. Parking is limited; the only places to park are up and down Lost Hills Road. They have shuttles to take you to your car. That being said if you need one make sure you have an easily collapsible stroller.
The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival is a great place to take the kids for some FREE family fun. Hope to see you there next year!

Sounds like a fun day with the family! And I love the word “free” too.
Gotta wonder where the guy with the ATM truck ended, huh?
Great pic of the family, by the way!
