revelations during a marathon of tori & dean
Why was I up until after midnight watching tivo’d episodes of Tori & Dean? Best of all my husband (
he’ll kill me for saying it) was sitting right next to me. The same man who hates girly flicks and anything mushy.
Maybe we are drawn to the show because we’re in the same situation, okay wait, no my dad wasn’t a entertainment mogul, no I didn’t grow up in Hollywood, no I don’t have paparazzi following me, nor do I have oodles of money or even know what it is like to have oodles of money.
Okay so we don’t have much in common after all, but what WE do have in common is that we both have two adorable little kids. I won’t say who has the cutest (me, me!) because that wouldn’t be polite. We both have a somewhat difficult relationship with our mothers; hers does seem way more complicated. But who really does have the PERFECT relationship with their mother. We are both working moms. We both are trying to survive in Los Angeles, are struggles differ but overall we both seek success.
We sat on our couch eating popcorn and drinking wine and watched 3 episodes of the Return to Hollywood series and really enjoyed them. And I learned something about myself, I actually do like Tori. I remember growing up and seeing her on television and thinking what a wonderful life she and so many other teenage stars must be having. How perfect their lives must be. But watching this show (and just growing up) makes me realize that everyone has issues with something, no one really has a perfect life and we all have our own personal struggles. Some people are just lucky enough to go through them holding a Jimmy Choo handbag. I was a Nine West girl myself.

This show is one of my guilty pleasures =). Yes…deep down we’re all human, striving to be the best mom (or dad) we can be, and some just have a little more luxuries than others!
