shh, i have a secret…

by Stephanie Elie on June 16, 2009

myvisionboardDo you have a vision board? Do you believe they work? My husband and I created a vision board sometime last year. Mine was recently cluttered with important phone numbers, orders and a bunch of other junk.

After they selected the winners (not me) of the Kodak Print and Prosper BlogHer scholarship, my husband said, “It wasn’t on your vision board.”

WHAT!

I actually completely forgot about my vision board, I mean sure it sits right in front of me as I write my blog posts and process orders, but I never really looked at it anymore. So I decided to dust off my vision board and clear out all of the junk. This is what’s on my vision board now.

  1. Picture of Jillian Barberie six months after she had her baby. I want abs like that – that is the only reason why it’s up there.
  2. The awesome Volkswagen Touareg – this car is totally awesome, cheaper than the Porsche but just as fast.
  3. An article of a successful mom entrepreneur who owns an online store
  4. Sales stats that I need to achieve in order to replace my current income and/or pay for daycare.
  5. BlogHer conference – it’s there now, wasn’t before
  6. Mom 2.0 conference
  7. Blog World Conference
  8. Sitscation Conference
  9. Oprah’s logo – come on who doesn’t want to be on Oprah!
  10. A movie award trophy – yes I’m an aspiring screenwriter.

Last weekend I Tweeted, Facebooked, linked, Skyped and even Google Alerted that I was looking for a full pass to BlogHer. The next day BAM! Did you guess my secret?

BlogHer '09 In Real Life

That’s right with the help of some really amazing people I finally was able to score a ticket to BlogHer 2009. Thanks @Jessica for sending out the email inquiry, thanks Hubs for watching our crazy kiddos while I’m away and thanks for pretending to understand my blogging addiction.

Stephanie, that is a fabulous idea. I don’t do traditional goals, but a vision board I think I could really get behind. Just so happens I have to make a trip to the craft store today. I’ll pick up a cork-board while I’m there. Thanks for the inspiration!

Man I need to create a vision board. Hubby and I created one when we moved into our apartment. Once we moved out of the apartment we accidentally let the board (shows you how much we looked at it huh). But now I really need to get it going. I think I may work on my vision board sometime this week.

Have you ever thought about doing a mobile vision board? This way it is with you always (well almost!). Wishing all your dreams and goals come true.

I believe they work, although I don’t have one. I’ve been meaning to get one done. I think when we move, we’ll get one up! Congrats on snagging a BlogHer pass and on the town house! We’re looking for a new place a well, preferably a town house too :-) .

I have a confession – I cut out a bunch of things, printed out a bunch of things with the intent to make a vision board but then I started feeling silly thinking it wasn’t worth it, it wouldn’t work. But I’m haring more and more people that use them and get results so I’m gonna dig all my stuff back out and this time actually make it!

I want to start one of these, one of my closest friends has one of these and she swears by them, she tells me this is what helped her loose weight by posting a constant reminder of what she wanted to look like.
